First trip to the theatre

I decided to take Faith to her first movie this afternoon. I've always thought that it is a long time for a 2 year old to sit and watch something. However, we have been through alot this last week and I think that she would enjoy it. We are off to see Horton Hears a Who!! Anyone heard anything about it? The director said that he had hoped to keep the CG rating throughout the movie. I hope it is good. Andma and Pa Pa are going too. They haven't got out recently either. A good ol' family outing.

Later that day....
The movie was great. Besides the scarey vulture who chased Horton down to get the speck from the flower and the mother kangaroo who rallied the entire town against him, it was a kid friendly movie. No underlying vulgarity like some G movies. I would recommend it to everyone. Dr. Seuss was wonderful.

Back to normal? I suppose so a little bit

Faith is feeling better. She has started to eat again and talk. Oh, how I've missed her talking. Maybe that is because I like to talk too and we talk to each other alot. She is still awful tired but is glad to be home again. Surprisingly she took Bud leaving again fairly well, considering it was 6am. We are on the downward hill now as we look forward to another big move. The days are counted. Although all will be missed here in the Midwest we are all ready to have a life again along with friends. Faith is ready for her big girl bed that is not on the floor and her kitchen cabinets that she can climb inside. Bud is lucky. He is going to arrive to the East just in time for the cherry blossoms to be in full swing. Maybe next year we will see them too. So anyways, Adios for now. All is well.

Home at last

Faith has made it home from the hospital. She is feeling better and looking better. She is talking again but refuses to take her medicine. Maybe had the nurse told me to mix it with juice she might take it. However I gave her a shot straight up and now she has put two and two together. Medicine.....yucky. I am going to call the doctor this morning and ask if she can take something else. I would even consider Amoxicillian and take the rash that comes with it. Anyways, we are all home now and hopefully will be staying.

A night at the hospital

Faith is in the hospital now. Her pneumonia has got worse and she has become dehydrated. Poor thing had to have her blood drawn again and is on a little IV that she can walk around with. She slept good last night and hopefully will get released tomorrow if she is eating and drinking well. She hasn't been eating for a good 5 days. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Today is such a wonderful day. We were all able to go to church together this morning and listen to three great talks on the Resurrection. After that Faith hunted for Easter eggs that were left in Pa Pa's flower garden. She loved it. She managed to tell the difference in sounds between the M&M's and the coins. Of course the M&M eggs she quickly opened and gobbled them up. She still isn't feeling all that well. Hopefully she'll be back to par before long. She looked so beautiful in her princess dress that her Andma Pat bought for her. Hope you all have a great day.

Sick little one

Faith has been sick the last few days. What started off with a cough has progressively worsened into pnemonia. Poor little thing can't sleep and has a temperature of 102+. We went to the doctor today and found this out after I thought she was extremely hot after waking up from nap. What I thought was just going to end up being another ear infection turned into something more. Poor Faith had to have blood drawn and then have a chest x-ray. She sure was a trooper. I supposed it helped she had a sucker and stickers galore. Those nurses sure know what works best for kids. A little song calmed her down as she had her blood drawn but then the nurse missed the vein and she had to have it repeated. I wanted to cry for her. But she told me she was a big kid afterwards. Hopefully she will feel better for the birthday party. Otherwise, it may be a short one.

Happy Birthday Faith

Today is Faith's birthday. She seems to understand that her party is on Saturday and not today. She told me her daddy is going to be here. She says that she is going to get him out of bed on Saturday. Poor Bud, he will have just fallen into a deep sleep when his little buddy will be ready to start her day. She thinks that her daddy is bringing the big yellow truck also. I have to remind her that Bud is driving his green truck and the big yellow truck will come in a few weeks to pick up her boxes. Since she is opening presents at the party I decided that she has to have something today. Do you know what her favorite thing is nowadays? Marshmallows!! So I put a little baggie of them into her birthday card and when she opened them she was so excited. Marshmallows! Marshmallows! So she enjoyed marshmallows before breakfast and then had them in her cereal which was Lucky Charms. I reflected on these past two years with her this morning. We watched the pictures of her birth along with John Mayor's song Daughters and then looked through her baby book and box. I am so glad to have her as a daughter and I am even happier that we are all going to be together as a family to celebrate. Happy 2nd birthday Faith. May you have many more to come.

You're two.... no three

Whenever I ask Faith how old she is going to be on her birthday she says three. No matter how much I tell her that she will be two she reminds me that she will be three. So as I thought about it I began to review her developmental screening that we had done the other day. She passed every aspect of the two, three, and some of the four year old milestones in language. Her cognitive screen displayed that she was functioning as a three year old along with her fine motor skills. So maybe, just maybe, this is why she thinks that she is three and not two. I personally like the Denver II screening however they had used the Bailey screen on her. She passed 13 out of 13 and then the lady recommended a different screening to take home with us. The lady in charge of preschool screening is going to see if Faith can join a Dial study with preschoolers this week. Faith will do great.

Ms. Mix Alot

I hate to admit it but I heard a catchy rap song the other day and then heard it again today while driving. I really don't like rap and tend to lean towards country or Christian music however I just couldn't resist dancing to it tonight. Little did I realize that Faith would like it too. The song is by T-pain and it's title is Apple Bottom Jeans. I don't like the words to the song except the chorus so if any of you out there are looking to read the lyrics, please don't unless you just want to hear the chorus. Here Faith sings, "Apple bottom jeans... fur boots...hit floor...low low low low low low low. Here this little 3 foot tall person is hollering at me to hit the floor and pushes on me to lie down. She then sits with her legs wrapped around the back of my neck and sings "low low low low...." As the music stops and we head downstairs she repeats the song to Andma. Good job singing Faith.

Polite Polly

Faith is becoming quite the character. So she was becoming a little bossy and we decided that we had better change how she was requesting things. She has started to go potty all by herself. She doesn't want any help either. So after her telling me to leave ("mommy out, shut door") the bathroom while she used it yesterday, she politely asked me to leave today. It went like this. "Um, excuse me mommy. Brooklyn potty all by self please." Where did my little girl go and when did she become so big? Then when we were upstairs mopping the floor she politely said, "Um, excuse me mommy. I need you please" as she stood in her room. This politeness is how we are trying to replace the whining in her voice. I guess it is working.

You want what?

Don't ask me how it started or how she discovered who Spiderman was but Faith knows. So I decided to take the "diaper" off of her at nighttime due to the fact it is promoting baby behavior. The only other option is a pull up. So we went shopping for pullups today for night time. After looking over them all she decided that she would like Buzz Lightyear. Faith then thought that she would wear them during playtime. So I decided we better get a new pair of underwear for daytime play. We looked over the princess and Dora ones only to be followed by the pretty pink and yellow ones. When she seen the Spiderman ones, it was all over. My daughter wanted Spiderman underwear. "Are you sure you don't want Cinderella or Dora. They are so pretty." She replied with the ever wonderful, "NO, want Spiderman." Then we had to decide which ones for there were two packages. Decisions, decisions. She ultimately decided to go with the glow in the dark Spiderman ones with the Incredible Hulk on one.

The Dollhouse

A friend brought over a huge dollhouse for Faith last night. It arrived just at bedtime so I told her that we'd have to play in the morning. It was so big and neat I had to stay up and play with it and let Faith stay up an hour late. There is a mommy, daddy, sister and baby. She relates to the baby best. She put the daddy on the porch, swung baby in the swing and put sister in the bath and then to bed. Her everyday activities she can relate to this house and I love it. There is furniture, bath mats, food, a stove that opens, three floors and even a garden with a garage. When I talked to Bud he said that we were going to have to get a bigger moving truck because of Faith and her visit to Andma's. Every little girl needs a big doll house though.

The Big Bad Wolf returns

The more Faith reads her stories the more her imagination develops. It was her friends Lia and Calvin who started all this two weeks ago. It was then that I realized that maybe I should take a more active approach to imaginative play around the house. Tonight, as well as the last three nights, have included the Big Bad wolf from both 3 Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. She runs through the house shouting, "Run....Big bad wolf... hurry... hide in the castle. Andma big bad wolf. Mommy hide. Huff, puff, blow your house in. Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin." She smacks Andma's legs as she starts to get closer to the castle (the castle being the picnic table of hers). "Oh no Lamby and Abby outside. Hurry. Get her" The big bad wolf (Andma) gets her as she tries to rescue Lamby and Abby and bring them into the castle. Andma chews her up and spits her out. When Faith has had enough she cries "Andma all done big bad wolf" I tried to get another story line going with Cinderella and her castle but she always seemed to hop back to big bad wolf. My mind boggles sometimes with what she can think of.

Who needs clothes anyways?

I was looking back on some previous photos and movies only to discover a similarity between them all. Does Faith ever have clothes on? I really don't think so. Every night this week I think that as the day wears on she slowly gets undressed to the point that she is "bare butt" by the time bedtime rolls around. This girl.... I tell you what. I think she likes the feel of being free. I don't blame her. If no one could see me, I might consider running around the house that way too. I think that she would go out in the snow "bare butt" if given the opportunity. She races from one end of the house to the other before I have even realized that she has disrobed herself. I'm sure there will plenty of time in her life to keep her dressed so why bother with it now.

Poor Abby

This poor cat. Just look at her. What she has to go through to keep a 2 year old happy. I never dreamed that she would be as good with Faith as she is. Faith even woke up this morning to see her sitting in the recliner. "Kiss Abby" she says and puckers up as she goes in for the kill. Abby just sat. Last night it was cute. She gave Abby her favorite blanket, covered her up, and then handed her Lamby. As if that wasn't enough she wanted to make sure that Abby had enough toys to sleep with. All the other beanie cats joined her too. I really thought that at first opportunity she would run from Faith however she sat even after Faith went to play elsewhere.
