Reading....

Faith is succeeding at reading. She has reached her 75 book mark this weekend and enjoyed picking out a prize (a Princess Tiana tea set). She is recognizing so many words around her now. She feels accomplished and excited to read to her baby brother. She asked to sit in his crib yesterday morning and read to him. It was quite the moment. It seems that we have been working so long on this with her yet it has only been a few months. She loves playing sight word BINGO and any other game that involves reading. I can only hope that she continues with her love of books that she has had since she was born.

Some favorites

Faith has some new favorite songs that are just too cute to forget. Her teacher at school has taught her "Sally the Camel". She has to put her hands in front of her and pretend she is riding the horse and then the song says, Boom Boom Boom Boom. It is then that she puts her hands on her hips and moves them side to side with the beat of the words. When she calls out the number of humps her face is filled with a smile and she puts that amount of fingers high in the sky. I just love it when she shares songs with me. Another song was "This Little Light of Mine". The other night she couldn't go to bed without sharing it with me. Smile on lips and singing from her heart. She put her finger up in the air and just shined shined shined. I dont' know how she is so good at learning songs. I guess she has my music learning style and just picks up on quickly.

Blizzard of 2010

It has been quite the snowfall this year. Last year we managed to receive one snowfall followed by ice and then melting the next day. This year it is February and we have already received three substantial snowfalls. December brought 17 inches. February brought 20+ inches followed by another 7-10 with blizzard winds for two days. We have been snowed in for two days. The second storm came yesterday and Bud can not seem to dig himself out. Faith has been climbing on the snow piles. No snowmen yet but some fun sledding by the two of us. Hopefully the snow will be done for the year as we are hoping to see the signs of Spring soon.

Little Miss Kitty

Faith had a great week last week as they learned all about the letter C. She talked about clouds, caterpillars, cupcakes, and cats. The best part of the week was by far the face painting that her teacher did on Monday. She told all her friends to wear black on Monday because they were going to dress up like cats. They each made cat ears with the help of the teacher and then Mrs. K painted each ones face with whiskers and black nose. It was too cute. In fact, Faith wanted to wear her black the next day too as she wanted to be a cat again. Her teacher is so creative. We both love her.
